In the wilderness, under the desert tree, my depth of sorrow grows. My longing for joy, peace, and happiness in life is so distant that I can’t remember if it was something I ever truly had.
I sit here now, lost, void, empty, dry, and numb. My hopes and dreams are vanishing. My longing for things to be different and to feel the vibrancy of life is diminishing day by day, moment by moment. Here I sit under the desert tree, paralyzed, seeing with gray-scale sight and clouded thought. In the wilderness, under the desert tree, I sit alone.
Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the skin with water…
~Genesis 21:19

How much do you long for the parched places in your life to be overflowing, drenched, saturated, and revived with a refreshing newness for life? It is possible! Jesus knows the depths of your pain and sorrow. He is the well of water in the parched places of your life. As you sit under your desert tree, feeling alone, isolated, and desolate, surrounded by uncertainty, anger, and/or fear, know this: Christ Jesus is with you! He’s been with you all along. You cannot physically see Him, but His existence is true.
Blind faith = new sight! It’s time to see with the eyes of your heart if you want things to change. No one can pull you up from that desert tree except for you. Fill yourself with the reviving water of truth—Jesus’ existence. He lived, died, and was resurrected on your behalf.
